In April, The Art Therapy Alliance announced bringing the Art Therapy Student Networking Forum as one of our new subgroups on LinkedIn. This subgroup provides an opportunity for students interested in art therapy or enrolled in an art therapy educational program to network with other students and art therapists, as well as access resources and news related to the profession of art therapy. Over 10 years ago, the Art Therapy Student Networking Forum was my first venture in the art therapy field to use the Internet and technology to create connection and idea sharing. Other hosting sites throughout the years have included Delphi Forums and Yahoo Groups, but it is exciting to now have the group’s new home on LinkedIn and as part of the Art Therapy Alliance community.
The Art Therapy Alliance’s many other subgroups (i.e.International Art Therapy Organization, trauma and loss, medical art therapy, older adults and art therapy, digital art therapy, international art therapy research collaborative, materials & media, independent practice, and more) also provide students great access and opportunity to connect with art therapists from all over the world, discussions, and exchange ideas important to their studies and as future art therapists entering the field.
